2010 GEG Promenade Stages Rally Bucks the Trend

With nearly three weeks to go before the GEG promenade Stages Rally on the 11th September the organising committee confirm they have received a full entry for this year’s event. Entries include Chris Davis and Brandon Parker in their Darrian T90 attempting to win the event for their fifth consecutive year as well as other previous winners of the event including John Stone in his Skoda Fabia WRC and Lyndon Barton in his Ford Escort Mk2.Other notable entries include Peter and Tim Stojanov in their Subaru Impreza WRC S12 and a brace of 6R4’s driven by Ian Rowlance and Chris Wise.

Wallasey Motor Clubs spokesman Jon Chamberlain commented “We have worked very hard on this year’s event and it would appear all of that hard work has been rewarded with a full entry. This is something which a number of other rallies have struggled to do this year and in some circumstances we have even seen events cancelled due to a lack of entries. We have also worked hard to promote our rally to not only traditional motor sport fans but to widen the appeal of the rally to the general public by promoting it as a family fun day out. With the assistance of the rally’s new sponsor The Garage Equipment Group we have secured an extensive media support package prior to the event, to raise both the profile and spectator numbers at this year’s rally.

This includes full page advertisement in the Wirral Globe newspaper in the week running up to the event and a radio advertising campaign on the local independent radio station Heart Radio. Heart Radio will also be attending the rally with their "Alfresco" promotional road show providing family entertainment within the spectator area along with a family fun fair.
Furthermore, TV coverage of the Rally has been secured and it will be featured in an exclusive one hour programme to be broadcast on Motors TV ( Sky Channel 413 - Virgin Media 545 ) on Saturday 23rd October at 11:35pm, which will be immediately after coverage of the WRC Spain.”  For further information on this year’s GEG Promenade Stages Rally check out the website www.wallaseymc.com

2010 Garage Equipment Group Promenade Stages Rally

This year’s  Promenade Stages Rally run by Wallasey motor club will take place on Saturday the 11th September 2010 and the organising Committee are also pleased to announce that Bromborough based Garage Equipment Group “GEG” is to be the new event sponsor. G E G has taken over from Printmatters as main sponsor who, due to circumstances beyond their control, could not commit to continuing their sponsorship again this year. GEG`s Managing Director, Carl Allenson, welcomed the opportunity to be involved this year and is looking forward to becoming actively involved in the event.

Due to the recent start in development of the New Brighton promenade this year’s event will see the introduction of new stage layouts and the relocation of the service paddock. Clerk of the course Andy MacDonald commented “This year’s event will be completely different to anything we have run before, the new stage layouts will offer competitors fifty stages miles over ten stages on one of the very few events still to be held on closed public roads on the UK mainland, all of which adds up to what will be a very exciting and challenging rally.”
